St. George Greek Church, Feodosia

St. George Greek Church is a stone building with Byzantine elements in the coastal city of Feodosia. The structure sits on higher ground with views toward the Black Sea coast, and an Armenian cemetery extends beside it with old graves.

The building was constructed in 1385 and ranks among the oldest Armenian churches built during medieval times in Crimea. This site stands as a record of the long presence of Armenian Christians in this region since the Middle Ages.

The church was built and used by Feodosia's Armenian community, who have lived here for centuries. Today, visitors can see Armenian gravestones on the adjacent cemetery, showing how important this place has been to local Armenians.

The church sits on a hilltop near the sea and is easily reached on foot. Visitors should be prepared for uneven ground and wear sturdy shoes, as access to the cemetery involves stairs and sloped paths.

The church holds dual protection status, registered in both the Ukrainian heritage register and the Russian federal heritage list. This makes it a rare example of a monument recognized and protected by two countries despite current tensions between them.
