Hotel Equatoria, building in Uganda
Hotel Equatoria was a hotel in Kampala, Uganda that featured 89 rooms in different categories, each equipped with air conditioning, work desks, and satellite television. The property offered multiple dining venues serving international, Chinese, Indian, and local African cuisine, along with a fitness center featuring a swimming pool and spa facilities, conference rooms accommodating up to 450 guests, and an air-conditioned underground disco.
Hotel Equatoria was established in downtown Kampala at the corner of William Street and Kyaggwe Road, serving as a stopping point for business travelers and visitors for many years. In December 2009, the building was converted into Equatoria Shopping Mall, which now houses approximately 700 retail shops.
The hotel was centrally located, providing easy access to shops, restaurants, and other facilities, making it a practical base for exploring the city. Its proximity to Entebbe International Airport, about 40 kilometers away, also made it convenient for travelers arriving or departing by air.
The hotel featured an underground, air-conditioned disco that provided a quiet environment despite being located in a busy part of the city. This hidden entertainment venue set it apart from typical hotels and made it an interesting gathering spot for guests and nightlife seekers.
