Robert Adam designed the mansion in the 1770s for Lord Apsley before the first Duke of Wellington acquired it in 1817.
The museum exhibits 200 paintings from masters including Velazquez, Goya, and Van Dyck, along with Portuguese silver and French porcelain collections.
The museum opens Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, with English Heritage managing the property while the Wellington family maintains residence.
The mansion earned the address Number One London as it was the first house travelers encountered when entering London from Knightsbridge.
