Harrison, Industrial town in Hudson County, United States
Harrison occupies a compact area along the Passaic River in Hudson County, featuring residential neighborhoods, commercial buildings, and several waterfront parks. The town sits directly adjacent to Newark and provides a mix of older brick structures and newer apartment developments near the riverbanks.
The municipality took shape on April 13, 1840, when the New Jersey Legislature created the township and named it after William Henry Harrison, the ninth President of the United States. Over the following decades, it grew into a center for heavy industry, with steel mills and factories lining the riverfront.
The Red Bull Arena, opened in 2010, functions as the home stadium for both the New York Red Bulls and NJ/NY Gotham FC soccer teams.
The PATH train offers regular connections from Harrison Station to both Newark and Manhattan, making it easy for visitors to reach nearby urban areas. Walking along the riverfront provides access to several pathways and small green spaces suitable for short strolls.
Once known as the Beehive of Industry, this former manufacturing center has shifted from heavy industry to a residential community with new developments along the Passaic River. Today, newly built high-rises replace the old factory halls that once defined the waterfront.
