550 Broad Street

550 Broad Street is a 19-story office building that rises 243 feet (74 meters) and anchors the downtown area with its imposing form. It contains approximately 312,000 square feet of professional office space and provides parking for tenants on-site.

Originally known as the Fidelity Union Building, this structure was completed in 1966 as a collaborative project between Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company and the George A. Fuller Company. Its completion marked a significant moment in Newark's effort to establish itself as a modern commercial center.

The concrete and sharp lines of this building reflect how Newark embraced modern design during the mid-20th century to rebuild its downtown. When you walk past it today, you can see how its bold forms still stand out among the surrounding architecture from that era.
