Linn County

Linn County is an administrative division in eastern Iowa that spans a large area and includes Cedar Rapids as its largest city along with numerous smaller towns. The region combines urban and rural areas throughout its territory.

The county was established in 1839 as part of Iowa Territory, with Marion as its first county seat. Cedar Rapids later grew into the region's major center.

Manufacturing work and farming shape how people here earn their living and spend their time. Schools and colleges are central gathering places that draw residents and students from across the region.

Getting around requires a car, and roads connect the various communities throughout the territory. Visitors should plan routes based on which towns and attractions they want to reach.

In 2008, the Cedar River caused severe flooding that damaged infrastructure and homes across the county. This disaster led to major rebuilding and protection projects throughout the region.
