Howard County

Howard County is an administrative division in north central Indiana that includes both urban and rural communities. Kokomo serves as the county seat, where most government services and regional businesses are based.

The region was originally established in 1844 under a different name, then renamed in 1846 to honor a notable statesman. This change reflected evolving local governance and regional identity during Indiana's early development.

Multiple educational institutions operate within the county borders, including Indiana University Kokomo, Indiana Wesleyan University, and Ivy Tech Community College.
