Pennsylvania State University is a public research institution in State College with 24 campus locations spread throughout Pennsylvania. The main campus sits in University Park and covers more than 3,400 hectares with numerous buildings for teaching, research and student life.
The institution began in 1855 as an agricultural school and gradually expanded its curriculum over the following decades. By 1953 it had grown into a full research university with a broad range of degree programs.
