Camdenton, city in Missouri, United States
Camdenton is the county seat of Camden County in Missouri's Ozark region. Founded in the early 1930s, the town sits on elevated terrain with wide streets, contemporary structures, shops, and parks that serve both residents and visitors.
Camdenton emerged in the early 1930s after the Bagnell Dam construction flooded the former county seat of Linn Creek. Local leaders selected a new site five miles south to provide a safer location with reliable transportation access and a secure water supply.
The town is easy to navigate thanks to wide, organized streets and clear layout. Visitors can readily access parks, shops, and connections to the lake and highways.
The town was deliberately positioned at the intersection of two highways to become a transportation hub. This strategic placement, combined with hydroelectric development, transformed it into the main city serving the Lake of the Ozarks region.
