Trump World Tower, Residential skyscraper in Turtle Bay, Manhattan, United States
Trump World Tower is a residential building in Turtle Bay on Manhattan, covered in dark bronze-tinted glass and rising 72 stories to a height of 262 meters (860 feet). The slender structure stands just a few blocks from the United Nations headquarters and forms a sharp vertical line in the skyline of eastern Midtown.
Construction began in 1999 on the site of the former Engineering Center, after the developer purchased the land and additional air rights for 52 million dollars. The tower was completed in 2001 during a period of intensive high-rise development along First Avenue.
The narrow width of the tower allows natural light to reach almost every corner of the apartments, following the design approach common in Manhattan residential construction from that period. Passersby on First Avenue often notice how the dark glass exterior changes tone depending on the weather and time of day.
The complex can be spotted from First Avenue and sits about a five-minute walk from Grand Central Terminal. Public areas are accessible to residents, while visitors can view the exterior from the surrounding streets.
The building contains 376 residential units with large windows that frame different parts of Manhattan in each direction. Facilities inside include a swimming pool and a health club reserved for residents.
