Blue Bell, Census-designated place in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States.
Blue Bell is a census-designated community in Montgomery County that spreads north of Philadelphia with residential neighborhoods, office parks, and shopping centers. The area combines homes with business spaces that define suburban living in the region.
The area was originally called Pigeontown but was renamed Blue Bell in 1840, inspired by the Blue Bell Inn that served travelers passing through. This name change marked a shift in how the settlement identified itself as it developed.
The community holds regular events at Montgomery County Community College and local recreational facilities throughout all seasons of the year.
The area is well connected to Philadelphia and surrounding regions by major highways, making travel easy. Shopping, schools, and recreation facilities are spread throughout, so you can find what you need in different parts of the community.
Over a hundred years ago, large flocks of passenger pigeons, now extinct, moved through this area and gave it its original name. This connection to the wildlife that once thrived here survives only in the former name Pigeontown.
