Fort Washington State Park

Fort Washington State Park is a protected natural area covering hundreds of acres with walking trails, picnic zones, and a viewing platform with views over the surrounding region. The grounds offer different pathways for exploration and spaces to spend time outdoors.

The site held military significance during the American Revolution when a temporary fort was built in 1777 to house troops. General Washington positioned thousands of soldiers here as part of the fighting around Philadelphia.

The observation deck draws bird watchers during fall months when raptors travel south along the Atlantic coast. This location has become a gathering place where visitors track and count these migrating birds as they pass overhead.

Visitors need to bring their own trash containers since the property has no waste collection facilities. It is important to carry out everything you bring in when leaving the park.

An electric vehicle charging station with two ports is available for visitors in one of the parking areas. This makes it convenient for travelers with electric cars to visit.
