Wappingers Falls, Historic riverside town in Dutchess County, New York, United States.

Wappingers Falls is a village in Dutchess County north of New York City that spreads along a creek with waterfalls. Residential neighborhoods alternate with commercial zones, while the waterway shapes the different parts of town.

The village began in the early 1700s when first settlers built a mill and stone house next to the creek. This early settlement relied on water power and set the foundation for what the place would become.

The central park hosts regular gatherings and seasonal events where neighbors meet and spend time together. These communal spaces show how people here shape their shared life in town.

The village connects to commuter rail lines heading toward New York City, running daily and giving visitors easy access to the larger city. The pedestrian-friendly downtown area is easy to walk around and many spots are within walking distance.

A dispute over tea prices at a private home in 1777 escalated into an incident that pushed local residents toward rebellion against British authorities. This moment shows how even small villages got caught up in the larger conflicts of the era.
