Columbia Regional Airport, airport in Missouri, United States of America
Columbia Regional Airport is a commercial airport in Missouri serving Columbia and the surrounding region. The facility has two runways, a modern terminal building with four gates and jet bridges opened in 2022, and areas for private aircraft.
The airport opened in 1968 replacing an older airfield near the city. Its history began in the 1920s as a small landing strip for emergency use and flight instruction before city leaders in the 1960s decided to build a larger modern airport to better serve the region.
The airport offers parking directly outside the terminal and is easy to reach by car. Check-in is straightforward, security moves quickly, and staff are helpful with directions and questions.
The airport is known for housing private aircraft owners and regularly receiving college sports teams during the university athletics season. This gives it a unique role as a local aviation hub with sports connections.
