Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain, Wooden roller coaster at Indiana Beach in Monticello, Indiana
The Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain is a wooden roller coaster at Indiana Beach with sections running both indoors and outdoors through a mountain structure. The ride covers 1,400 feet (427 meters) of track with sharp turns and steep descents.
This attraction was built in 2002 by Custom Coasters International as their final project before the company went bankrupt. It replaced an older dark ride that operated since 1978.
The mountain structure displays mining-themed scenes with animations and sound effects that reference American mining traditions. Visitors encounter stylized mine scenarios as they move through the attraction.
Passengers must be at least 48 inches (1.2 meters) tall to ride this roller coaster. Two-car trains operate with riders seated facing each other.
The ride uses an elevator lift system that raises the track vertically instead of traditional chain mechanisms. This creates different acceleration patterns throughout the journey.
