Cadiz

Cadiz is the county seat of Harrison County in Ohio, serving as the administrative and municipal center for the region. The village contains residential neighborhoods alongside government offices and local businesses that form the heart of the community.

The settlement was founded in 1803 at a crossroads where routes from Pittsburgh and Washington converged, positioning it as a natural hub for the region. It became the official county seat in 1813, establishing its role as the administrative center.

Local families participated in the Underground Railroad network during the nineteenth century, helping enslaved individuals reach freedom in Canada.
