The Wampanoag Tribe maintains a strong presence in Aquinnah, with one-third of town voters belonging to this federally recognized Native American community.
Visitors can access the town through Martha's Vineyard Airport, located 12 miles away, with local services centered around the Town Hall on State Road.
The Gay Head Lighthouse, relocated 129 feet inland in 2015 due to cliff erosion, continues its maritime protection role from its new position.
