Jumbo Jet, Steel roller coaster in Six Flags Great Adventure, United States.
Jumbo Jet was a Jet Star 3 model steel coaster featuring an innovative electric spiral lift system with small wheel motors to propel the train up the initial helix section. The ride occupied space in the Fun Fair area of the park and was leased along with other attractions from Continental Park Attractions.
Designed and built by manufacturer Anton Schwarzkopf and engineer Werner Stengel in 1975, it was the first of its model type to arrive in New Jersey. The arrival marked the beginning of a new era in how parks would source and deploy rides, though this particular installation had a brief existence.
This coaster arrived during a period when American parks embraced European engineering approaches to ride design. Visitors at the park witnessed a shift toward imported prefabricated steel rides that would reshape amusement park offerings.
The ride was always located in the Fun Fair section of the park alongside other leased attractions from the same vendor. Visitors exploring that area would have found it among several other rides available in that part of the park.
Despite being fully assembled and installed in spring 1975, the coaster never welcomed a single paying rider. It was removed within one month, making it one of the shortest-lived installations in the park's history.
