Old Round Church, Federal architecture meetinghouse in Richmond, Vermont, US
The Old Round Church features a sixteen-sided polygon shape with a central steeple and a diameter of 50 feet measuring two stories in height.
Construction started in 1812 under architect William Rhodes to serve five Protestant congregations, including Baptists, Christians, Congregationalists, Methodists, and Universalists.
The Richmond Historical Society maintains this National Historic Landmark, which remains a testament to early American religious cooperation and architectural innovation.
The structure opens from June through October for free tours and functions as a venue for weddings and community events with a capacity of 228 people.
The exterior displays sixteen distinct sides while the interior creates a round appearance through hidden corner posts in the wooden frame construction.

Vermont contains remote locations of historical importance that often lie away from major routes. The region encompasses active and abandoned granite quarries, one-room schoolhouses dating from the 19th century, wooden covered bridges, and waterfalls flowing through forested gorges. Trails cross the Green Mountains, leading to mountain lakes, abandoned settlements, and farms that have operated for generations. Historic sites include President Calvin Coolidge's birthplace in Plymouth Notch, preserved as a museum village, and Naulakha, Rudyard Kipling's former residence in Dummerston. Several state parks provide views over the Champlain Valley and Lake Champlain. The marble exhibits in Proctor document the region's quarrying history. These locations offer insight into Vermont's industrial past, literary heritage, and rural traditions.
