The facade features neoclassical elements with gray granite columns in Doric and Ionic styles, while the interior houses about one million square feet of office space with up to 30 elevators for circulation.
The building was constructed between 1912 and 1922 and subsequently served as AT&T headquarters for many decades until 1983. The structure was also the site of the first transcontinental telephone call in the United States, marking its role in American technological advancement.
