Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum of New Jersey, Aviation museum and hall of fame at Teterboro Airport, United States.
The Aviation Hall of Fame and Museum of New Jersey is an aviation museum and hall of fame in Teterboro, New Jersey, displaying aircraft, space equipment, and artifacts from the history of flight. The building sits near Teterboro Airport and holds objects ranging from early aviation tools to items connected with space exploration.
The museum was founded in 1972 as the first state-run aviation museum in the United States. It moved to its current site near Teterboro Airport in 1997.
The hall of fame holds induction ceremonies that honor aviators and figures with strong ties to New Jersey, and the names of honorees are displayed throughout the building. Walking through the galleries, visitors can read personal stories and see objects that belonged to real people from the region.
The museum is easiest to reach by car, and parking is available on site near Teterboro Airport. Allow enough time to move through the different sections, as the displays are spread across more than one area of the building.
The museum preserves the flight deck and first-class cabin of a Convair 880, letting visitors step inside and see what commercial air travel looked like in the 1960s. The Convair 880 was operated by several major airlines but very few examples have survived, making this one of the rarer pieces on display.
