TMNT Shellraiser is a steel roller coaster at Nickelodeon Universe in East Rutherford, New Jersey, completing seven inversions along its 3,280-foot course. It accelerates within seconds to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) and reaches a peak of 141 feet (43 meters).
Construction began in early 2018 following the public announcement the previous autumn. Belgian firm Martin & Vleminckx carried out the assembly until the ride opened in October 2019.
The attraction takes its name from the vehicle the four turtles used in their animated television series. Through indoor theming, riders move through a recreated underworld that recalls the tunnels and sewers beneath New York.
Children must be at least 48 inches tall to board. The ride uses six trains with eight seats each, arranged in two rows.
The steepest section drops at an angle of 121.5 degrees, making it one of the most extreme descents on roller coasters worldwide. This incline exceeds vertical and creates a sense of tumbling during the fall.
