Bangor Episcopal Church
Bangor Episcopal Church, Greek Revival church in Churchtown, Pennsylvania, US.
Bangor Episcopal Church is a brownstone building with Greek Revival proportions located in Caernarvon Township near Churchtown. The structure features Gothic-arched stained glass windows and a slate roof topped by a steeple that was added later in the 19th century.
The building was constructed in 1830 and combines architectural features from both Greek and Gothic Revival movements of that era. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
The church complex includes a frame school building constructed in 1844 and a cemetery containing 325 graves from the Revolutionary War period.
The building sits in a village setting near Lancaster and is easily accessible on foot from nearby roads. The property is compact, so visitors can explore it comfortably in a short time.
The property includes a wooden school building dating to 1844 that stands beside the church as a companion structure. A burial ground contains graves from the Revolutionary War period, revealing the place's deep roots in early American history.
