Beesley's Point Bridge, Road bridge and toll bridge in Great Egg Harbor Bay, US.
Beesley's Point Bridge was a road bridge with tolls that crossed Great Egg Harbor Bay and connected Upper Township in Cape May County with Somers Point in Atlantic County. The structure had two traffic lanes and a movable section that allowed boats to pass underneath.
The structure was built by the Ocean City Automobile Club in 1927 and opened in 1928 to improve the route connection across the bay. It remained in operation until 2004, when it closed, and demolition began in 2013.
The bridge served as a central transportation artery for local communities until 2004, facilitating daily commutes and seasonal tourism between Atlantic and Cape May counties.
Visitors today can only find remains or historical information at the site, as demolition is complete. The location is accessible from the road or water but offers limited physical features to explore.
After closing in 2004, the toll keeper's car remained parked on the abandoned structure for years before demolition began. This unusual detail shows how quickly an important crossing could be abandoned.
