Great Egg Harbor Bridge

The Great Egg Harbor Bridge is a road bridge that spans across Great Egg Harbor Bay, linking Upper Township with Somers Point. It forms part of the Garden State Parkway and carries daily traffic between these two shore communities.

The bridge opened in 1955 and marked a turning point for transportation in southern New Jersey's coastal regions. It created a direct link between the shore areas and greatly improved access to beach communities.

The bridge spans through sections of Egg Harbor Township and Drag Island, serving as a connection point between different New Jersey shore communities.

The bridge has separate lanes for northbound and southbound traffic to manage the heavy flow of vehicles. Visitors should know that tolls are collected in one direction, so it helps to be prepared with payment when approaching.

A pedestrian and bicycle path on the southbound span opened in 2020 and connects Beesley's Point with Somers Point. This allows people to cross the bay on foot or by bike, offering an active travel option alongside vehicle traffic.
