Buck Creek State Park, Ohio state park in Clark County, US
Buck Creek State Park is a protected area covering more than 4000 acres with a large reservoir created by a dam across the creek. The water body and surrounding forests form an interconnected landscape with diverse habitats.
The area was opened for European settlement through a major peace treaty in the late 1700s. A homestead founded in the early 1800s by settlers from Virginia still stands today as a reminder of the first period of European occupation.
Several Native American peoples lived and hunted across this landscape for centuries before European settlement. Their presence shaped the land's character and remains part of the area's story today.
The park offers boating, swimming, fishing, and hiking throughout the year for visitors of all interests. Camping facilities are available for those wanting to stay overnight or longer.
The landscape was shaped by glaciers during the ice age and still displays the rolling hills they left behind. These natural springs that flow from the terrain support plant species and animals found nowhere else nearby.
