Buckingham Hotel, building in St. Louis, Missouri
The Buckingham Hotel was a seven-story building in St. Louis featuring a distinctive U-shape with numerous bay windows, opening in 1904 for the World's Fair. It offered 450 rooms, most with private bathrooms.
The hotel was a popular gathering spot hosting baseball players and cultural organizations. Damaged by fires in the early 1970s, it was demolished in 1973.
The building no longer exists, with the site now a surface parking lot near Forest Park. The original location was easily accessible on foot.
The hotel was the site of a tragic fire in its annex in 1927 that killed seven people. A famous baseball player named Larry McLean was involved in a fight there that ended his career.
