The limestone residence stands on Water Street, featuring symmetrical design elements and classic proportions characteristic of Federal architecture from the 1830s.
Built in 1837 using surplus limestone from Fort Crawford construction, the house originated from a separation agreement between Joseph Rolette and Jane Fisher Rolette.
The Wisconsin Historical Society maintains this National Historic Landmark, which illustrates early American settlement patterns and architectural preferences in the Midwest.
