Centre Market Square Historic District

The Centre Market Square Historic District stretches across 18 acres along Market Street between 20th and 23rd Streets in Wheeling, West Virginia. The area contains 181 contributing buildings displaying Greek Revival and Renaissance Revival architecture, with notable structures like the Second Presbyterian Church from 1850 and St. Alphonsus Church completed in 1887.

The district developed around the Upper Market House, the first market house in the United States, which originally served as an open-air marketplace for the community.
