Dans Mountain State Park

Dans Mountain State Park is a state park in Allegany County featuring wooded hillsides, flowing streams, and numerous trails for walking through the landscape. The grounds include a fishing pond and developed recreational areas set among the surrounding forest.

The mountain took its name from Daniel Cresap, an early settler in the area who fell from a tree while hunting. The incident shaped the place's name and became part of the region's story.

The Delaware Indian Nemacolin rescued Daniel Cresap after his fall, carrying him down the mountain using a horse and litter for transportation.
