Cumberland Mountain State Park

Cumberland Mountain State Park is a recreational area in Tennessee featuring expansive forests, marked trails, and waterways throughout the property. A lake created by Byrd Creek Dam serves as a focal point, with camping zones, picnic grounds, and fishing locations spread across different sections.

The park was established and developed during the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps as part of New Deal employment programs. The construction of Byrd Creek Dam and the meeting lodge occurred during this period of infrastructure building.

The meeting lodge still displays the original stone masonry and wooden construction methods used by CCC workers from that era. These handcrafted techniques from the 1930s are visible in the carefully fitted stones and timber beams throughout the building.
