Tashkent botanical garden, Botanical garden in northern Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Tashkent Botanical Garden is a large green space that grows plants from five different world regions: Central Asia, East Asia, Far East, Europe, and North America. Within the site, separate sections contain plants typical of each region, from trees to flower beds.
The site was founded in 1920 by Russian scientist F.N. Rusanov and originally stood near the Ankhor canal. It was later moved to its present location in northern Tashkent.
The garden displays plants from different climate zones that visitors observe and walk through daily. The way each region is laid out lets people experience different parts of the world in one place.
The site is accessible throughout all seasons and offers bicycle rentals and guided tours for visitors. Its location near Tashkent Zoo makes it easy to visit several attractions on the same day.
Since 2018, a special section grows rare onion varieties through international scientific work between Uzbekistan and China. This area preserves plant species that are native to the Central Asian region.
