Church Alexander Nevskogo in Tashkent, Eastern Orthodox church in Yashnobod, Uzbekistan
The Church Alexander Nevskogo is an Eastern Orthodox church in Tashkent built from brick with golden onion domes in Russian Revival style. The structure stands near the Botkin Street Cemetery and displays a blend of Russian and eclectic design influences.
The building was constructed in 1902 for the 1st Turkestan rifle brigade and later served the 9th Turkestan rifle regiment. It received its current name in 1910 and has since been recognized as an important cultural heritage site.
The church preserves Eastern Orthodox traditions within Uzbekistan and shows how Russian and Central Asian religious practices meet in one place. Visitors can see how the community uses this space and experience the religious rhythms that shape daily life here.
The site is located near the cemetery on Botkin Street in the Yashnobod district and is accessible to visitors. Keep in mind this is an active place of worship where respectful behavior is expected.
The structure combines Russian Revival architecture with eclectic design elements, a rare mixture that highlights its importance as cultural heritage. This architectural fusion reflects the historical connections between Russia and Central Asia during that period.
