"Aksaray" - Islam Karimov Memorial Museum

The Aksaray Islam Karimov Memorial Museum occupies a palace with five exhibition halls across three floors, connected by corridors in an octagonal layout. The collection holds more than 16,000 pieces including ethnographic materials, archaeological artifacts, and historical coins that document aspects of the region.

The building was constructed in the 1960s as a political structure and later transformed into a museum dedicated to the first president of independent Uzbekistan. This conversion reflects the nation's political transformation following its independence.

The exhibits display objects from daily life and local customs, including traditional garments and handcrafted tools that tell the story of how people lived and worked in Uzbekistan. Visitors can see how these items were used in ceremonies and in regular commerce across different regions.
