Chorsu

Chorsu is a museum in Samarkand housed in a building with a distinctive hexagonal shape and multiple domed chambers linked by winding corridors. Inside, you will find works by Uzbek artists spanning different eras and styles, displayed across specialized exhibition spaces.

The building dates to the 15th century when Samarkand thrived as a major trading hub along the Silk Road. Its hexagonal design and construction methods reflect the architectural traditions that developed across Central Asia during that era of commerce and exchange.

The gallery exhibits numerous works from Uzbek artists, representing different periods and styles of Central Asian artistic expression through paintings and sculptures.

The museum sits near Registan Square and is easily reached from the city center. Wear comfortable shoes, as exploring the connected chambers and corridors requires considerable walking through the building.

Each of the six sides of the building contains a specialized exhibition zone focused on different artistic approaches, from traditional craftsmanship to contemporary work. This radial arrangement lets visitors experience distinct artistic traditions through the building's physical layout itself.
