Caruachi Dam, Hydroelectric power station on Caroni River, Bolívar, Venezuela
Caruachi Dam is a hydroelectric facility on the Caroni River with a length of about 5,700 meters and height of roughly 55 meters. The structure creates a broad water reservoir that fills the surrounding valley.
Construction began in 1998 with the first turbines starting operation in 2003. Full completion was achieved in 2006.
The dam represents Venezuela's commitment to renewable energy production through the harnessing of natural water resources in the Caroni River basin.
The facility operates with several large turbines that continuously process water flow. Visitors can experience the power of the flowing water and the scale of the structure from various vantage points.
The facility's spillway system can release water in enormous quantities, stabilizing the water level behind the dam. This sophisticated control system operates automatically and responds to changes in water flow.
