Ta'izz, Historical highland city in southwestern Yemen

Located at 1,400 meters above sea level, Taizz extends along the northern foot of Mount Subr, featuring multistory houses and ancient mosques.

The Ayyubid dynasty established Taizz as their capital in 1175, followed by the Rasulid dynasty which ruled from 1229 to 1454.

The city houses notable religious structures including Al-Mudhaffariyyah Mosque and the prominent Cairo Citadel rising 450 meters above the urban landscape.

Taizz functions as a transportation hub with all-weather highways connecting to Mocha on the Red Sea coast, Sanaa in the north, and Aden.

The region maintains its position as Yemen's primary coffee cultivation district while also producing khat leaves and various agricultural products.
