Solukhumbu District
Solukhumbu District, Administrative district in Koshi Province, Nepal.
Solukhumbu District covers 3,312 square kilometers of land, ranging from subtropical valleys to the summit of Mount Everest at 8,848 meters.
The district emerged in 1962 as an independent administrative unit, separating from East No. 3 district after centuries under Kirata Kingdom control.
The population of 104,768 residents includes Rai, Sherpa, Chhetri, and Tamang communities, practicing Hinduism, Kirat Mundhum, and Buddhism throughout the region.
The district headquarters in Salleri manages eight local units, providing administrative services through one urban and seven rural municipalities.
The northern section contains Mount Everest and neighboring peaks Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu, making it a central location for Himalayan expeditions.
