Balanga Cathedral

Balanga Cathedral is a place of worship built in baroque style and features white marble accents, red brick walls, and contemporary ceiling fixtures. Religious statues line the entrance and interior spaces.

This structure was founded in 1587, making it one of the oldest religious buildings in the region. After World War II, when it served as an artillery position during the Japanese occupation, it underwent extensive restoration work.

Life-size statues of patron saints from different towns in Bataan province stand outside the cathedral. They represent the religious connections between communities across the region.

The interior houses a two-tiered baldachin altar, an architectural feature similar to the design found in Saint Peter's Basilica. This type of altar is rarely seen in Philippine churches.
