Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Sikh shrine in Kartarpur, Pakistan.
Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur is a Sikh place of worship in the town of Kartarpur in northeastern Pakistan, located about five kilometers from the Indian border. The complex displays white marble facades with a central dome surrounded by smaller domes, while prayer halls and courtyards organize themselves around the main shrine.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji established this site in 1504 and spent the final eighteen years of his life here teaching Sikhism. After his time here, the site underwent changes through several centuries until renovation work began in the early 21st century.
The Gurdwara maintains a free community kitchen called Langar, where visitors receive meals regardless of their religion, caste, or social status.
Indian pilgrims can enter through the Kartarpur Corridor, a dedicated border crossing that does not require a Pakistani visa. Visitors must follow dress codes and cover their heads before entering the prayer areas.
The shrine sits close enough to the border that devotees can see the complex with the naked eye from Indian territory. The location made pilgrimages impossible for decades until the corridor opened in 2019 to allow visits again.
