Ramkot Fort, Medieval fort in Mirpur District, Pakistan
The stone fort stands on a steep hill at the intersection of Jhelum and Poonch rivers, now surrounded by Mangla Lake waters.
The Muslim rulers of Kashmir constructed Ramkot Fort during the 16th and 17th centuries as part of their regional defense infrastructure.
Inside the fort, two water reservoirs remain intact, showing the engineering methods used to sustain the garrison during extended periods.
Access to Ramkot Fort requires a 10-minute boat ride from the Mangla Dam Water Sports Club to reach the northern section of the lake.
The fort contains numerous winding ramps along its walls, which served as positioning platforms for cannons during military operations.
