The Palace of Ajuda features ornate state rooms and private apartments displaying extensive collections of furniture, tapestries, and decorative arts from five centuries.

The Portuguese royal family resided in this palace from the 1860s until 1910, when the monarchy ended and Portugal became a republic.

The palace contains Portugal's sole El Greco painting within its chapel, along with numerous halls decorated according to 19th-century royal standards.

Visitors can reach the palace by taking tram 18E or bus 760 from central Lisbon, with opening hours from 10:00 to 18:00 except Wednesdays.

The palace functions as both a museum and an official state venue, hosting ceremonies for the Portuguese Presidency while maintaining its historical collections.
