Bran, Medieval castle commune in Brașov County, Romania
The commune includes five settlements spread across 67 square kilometers of land at an elevation of 720 meters in southern Transylvania.
The Teutonic Knights constructed a wooden fortress in 1212, later replaced by a stone castle in 1377 under King Sigismund of Hungary's order.
Bran Castle maintains a museum displaying Queen Marie's collection of art and furniture, representing Romanian royal heritage from the 1920s.
Regular buses connect Brașov Autogara 2 to Bran every 30 minutes on weekdays, with the journey from Bucharest taking approximately three hours.
The castle serves as a customs post between Transylvania and Wallachia, standing at a strategic point along an essential trade route.
