Giurgeni – Vadu Oii Bridge

The Giurgeni-Vadu Oii Bridge is a road bridge connecting two settlements across the Danube River, stretching about 1,456 meters from one side to the other. It has four lanes for traffic and separate walkways for people on foot.

The bridge was completed in 1970 as a major infrastructure project that directly linked two regions on either side of the Danube for the first time. Its opening enabled constant and rapid movement of people and goods between the Muntenia and Dobruja areas.

The structure connects two communities that were once separated by the river, allowing people to move more easily between their daily destinations and visit family on the other side. It has become a landmark in the local landscape that residents and travelers recognize immediately.

You can cross the structure on foot or by car, as it is designed for both vehicles and pedestrians. The best time to visit is during daylight hours when visibility is good and you can see the river and surrounding landscape clearly.

The structure features remarkable engineering with several large spans that allow it to cross the river in an efficient way without needing many support columns in the water. This construction method was relatively advanced for the 1970s and reflects the technical capabilities of that era.
