Church of St. John the Baptist

The Church of St. John the Baptist exhibits traditional Russian architectural elements with multiple tiers, decorative elements, and a central dome structure.

Built in 1683, the church replaced a wooden structure from the 15th century and served as the location for Kuzma Minin's call to liberate Moscow.

The church functions as an active Orthodox religious center where regular services take place since its return to the Nizhny Novgorod diocese in 1994.

Located on National Unity Square along Rozhdestvenskaya Street, the church maintains regular visiting hours and conducts religious ceremonies throughout the week.

During the Soviet period, this religious building temporarily operated as a motorcycle school before being restored to its original religious purpose.
