Master Chief of the Ural's Estate
Master Chief of the Ural's Estate, Federal cultural heritage site near Working Youth Embankment, Yekaterinburg, Russia.
Master Chief of the Ural's Estate is a rectangular brick mansion displaying classical architectural elements with symmetrical facades and half-columns at the corners. The property contains multiple connected structures including the residential building, commercial spaces, and storage areas arranged around an inner courtyard.
The estate was designed between 1818 and 1830 by architect Mikhail Malakhov and served as the residence for mining industry administrators in the Ural region. It received federal protection status through a 1960 decree from the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR.
The house reflects the importance of mining industry leadership in the region through its carefully designed architectural details. The arcaded decorations and stepped friezes speak to the status and wealth of those who resided here.
The estate is located in Yekaterinburg and can be viewed from the outside, with views into the inner courtyard visible through the gates. Visitors should note that access may be limited and it is advisable to check beforehand about visiting possibilities.
The brick building showcases Russian classicism with local details that set it apart from other period estates. The specific design choices such as the window surrounds and corner columns were deliberately planned by Malakhov to convey authority and status.
