The Mikhailov Trade Building is a commercial structure on Kuznetsky Most Street featuring a striking red granite facade designed by architect Adolf Erichson in 1903. The exterior displays Tuscan columns and ornate decorative elements that showcase the craftsmanship of early 20th-century Moscow architecture.
The original owner Alexei Mikhailov rose from shop assistant to successful merchant dealing in furs from Siberia and America. The building erected in 1903 was later converted into a Soviet fashion institution and served that purpose until 2002.
From the 1940s onward, the building became home to the Soviet fashion design center, where collections were created for garment factories across the country. This role shaped how people dressed throughout the Soviet era.
The building sits on Kuznetsky Most Street in central Moscow and is accessible by public transportation. Today it houses a concept store and the exterior is visible from the street, though interior access depends on current business operations.
