The Torletsky-Zakharyin Revenue House spans an entire city block from Pushechnaya Street to Kuznetsky Most, displaying Victorian-era architecture with intricate ornamentation. The facade incorporates multiple floors of shops, offices, and apartments accessed through various entrances throughout the structure.

The property originally belonged to nobleman M.V. Sobakin in the 17th century and contained three-story chambers, a church, and clergy residences. During the 19th century, the structure was redeveloped into a revenue house and became an important commercial center.

The building housed French bookstores and libraries during the 19th century, drawing Moscow's French community to the area. Visitors can still observe the ornate exterior that reflects this era of international exchange and commerce.

The building sits centrally with easy access via Kuznetsky Most metro station, which provides direct entry through the courtyard. The location occupies a busy commercial district with shops and restaurants throughout the surrounding streets.

The building became known for attracting writers, including Leo Tolstoy and Mikhail Bulgakov, who frequented the area regularly. These literary connections made it a gathering place for Moscow's intellectual circles during the 19th century.
