Church of Saint Sophia Holy Wisdom

The Church of Saint Sophia is an Eastern Orthodox sanctuary featuring several domes and ornate spires constructed from brick. The interior is organized around an elaborate carved iconostasis that divides the worship space from the altar area.

Construction started in 1692 when Moscow was establishing itself as the center of Orthodox faith. The baroque design emerged during an era when Russian church architecture was absorbing influences while maintaining its own traditions.
