Perm State Art Gallery

The Perm State Art Gallery is an art museum in the Russian city of Perm that holds around 50,000 artworks spanning the 15th to 20th centuries. The collection features Russian and European pieces along with regional folk art.

The museum was founded in the late 1700s and early 1800s and first operated from inside the Transfiguration Cathedral. It remained in that building for over 200 years before relocating in 2023.

The collection includes many carved wooden figures from the Perm region, a tradition that developed over centuries and shows how local artists worked with natural materials. These sculptures reveal the beliefs and daily life of people in the surrounding area.
